Companies tend to relaunch their websites every few years. Some relaunches feature few obvious changes; others represent a complete departure from the previous site. For us, our website relaunch was about more than technical upgrades: it provided an ideal opportunity for an extensive overhaul of our corporate identity.

To begin with, our aim was to improve our website’s technical performance. We wanted to ensure that it operated as effectively as possible in technical respects to ensure high Google rankings. In the process, however, we identified an opportunity to refine our profile and services, especially by placing greater emphasis on how we combine localisation and content services.

Consequently, the original idea – improving our website’s technical performance – grew into a comprehensive revision of our website and corporate identity. And so, hey presto! We ended up with a new domain along with a new content marketing strategy, updated personas, fresh copy and new photos. In this article, we’d like to give you an insight into what we’ve been working on over the last year. We’ll also take you on a journey through time, looking at the evolution of our Kolibri website.

We engaged with the following aspects on the road to our relaunch:

  • Technical SEO
  • Content Marketing Strategy
  • User Experience
  • Customer Journey
  • Design
  • Corporate Language
  • Content services
  • Image concept and photo shooting
  • Programming
  • Content management
  • Final proofreading
  • Localisation

How did we approach the relaunch and rebrand?

Well, there was certainly a lot to do! Thankfully, we didn’t have to handle it all alone – and we’re hugely grateful to everyone who assisted us along the way:

  • A technical SEO consultant laid the foundations for our new website, ensuring it would rank well in search engines.
  • We created and optimised our buying centre and personas with the help of our customers and freelancers, who completed a survey, and with input from several team members.
  • A UX designer supported us during to project to make sure the website is user-friendly with respect to the customer journey.
  • A graphic designer created a modern, aesthetic website design that reflects our brand identity and defined our new image concept.
  • We conducted an internal content audit of the old website to leverage potential and learn lessons.
  • Our in-house specialists developed high-quality content.
  • A team of photographers arranged a photoshoot and created images that complement our content perfectly.
  • A developer worked hand-in-hand with our internal IT specialist to ensure that everything works properly and that the website performs as well as possible.
  • Our marketing manager, who went on maternity leave just before the relaunch, oversaw the entire process and kept a tight rein on everything.
  • Once our internal content manager had input the content, we engaged freelance copy editors who have worked with us for years for a thorough round of editing.
  • A freelance English translator, who has also worked with us for several years, localised the site so that we can address our international customers and freelancers.
  • Now, we’re working hard to test and expand the site!

A cautious summary of our relaunch and future outlook

Now, with the relaunch complete, we’re in the testing and development phase. The aim of our relaunch was never to present a perfect, finished product. Instead, our focus is on continuous development. With this in mind, we’re looking forward to the journey we’ve embarked on with our new website, enjoying the freedom brought by the motto “always in beta”.

However, the relaunch of our website and our new CI is a significant milestone – and we’re pretty proud of the results. We hope our new CI conveys a real sense of who and what we are: a warm-hearted, self-confident, quality-oriented agency.

In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll be publishing further pages, adding new magazine articles and implementing the next steps in our content marketing strategy. Let’s get started!
